Michelle Konkle joined the Axiom Financial Strategies Group in 2015, when it was still a division of Wells Fargo. She came onboard with nearly 10 years of experience in the industry, including time at both J.J.B. Hilliard Lyons and the downtown Louisville office of Wells Fargo Advisors. She began her career at National City Bank (now PNC Bank).

Currently Michelle is responsible for comprehensive planning for the Axiom Financial Strategies Group team, which includes asset allocation and retirement planning strategies for clients, liability management, and strategies involving life insurance and long-term care insurance. Michelle chose to earn the Certified Financial PlannerTM certification, which is issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, because it is the nation’s most respected all-inclusive financial planning credential. She is required to complete 30 credit hours of continuing education every two years to maintain this premier credential and stay up-to-date on the complexities of the ever-changing financial climate. The continuing education requirement also includes a focus on ethical practices, ensuring that all CFP® professionals uphold the principles of integrity, objectivity, competence, fairness, confidentiality, professionalism and diligence.

Michelle received a Bachelor of Science degree in both finance and business management from Indiana University. She serves her community as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana. When not working, Michelle enjoys the outdoors, spending time with her family of four and traveling.

Special Skills You Bring to the Table
“In addition to being a Certified Financial Planner, I have become our life insurance point person. We’ve started an insurance agency as a division of Axiom. It’s called Spring Street Solutions. We do a life insurance needs analysis to determine if a person is adequately covered and can issue policies.”

Advantage to Seeking Advice During Market Instability
“Financial advisors are often more about managing your emotions than managing your money. We’re here to talk you off the ledge. We have the research, experience and knowledge that tells us it won’t be this way forever. We’ve stress-tested your plan to withstand these storms and can help keep you on track.”

Biggest Work Success So Far
“Becoming a Certified Financial Planner. It was a huge undertaking for a full year. It’s important to me because it sets a standard. It’s a very highly respected designation in our industry that shows dedication to having the knowledge to do what is best and right for the client. I’m especially proud of achieving the certification at such a young age.”

Biggest Life Success
“I’m the first person in my immediate family to have a college degree and go on to have a real career.”

Important Business Advice You Give Clients
“When I’m dealing with younger investors, I tell them to start saving even if it’s just a little bit. It’s important to start to save in some manner. Even if you think you can’t afford it, you can.”

Most Rewarding Part of Your Job
“Watching the level of trust grow between you and your client. We encourage people to spend money on themselves and their families, like taking a vacation or buying a car. It’s rewarding when a client comes to trust you enough to do that thing they were afraid to do, to go into the world of uncertainty.”

Fun Fact
“I was raised on a small family farm. Now my husband is a third-generation cattle farmer.”
